Journey

Inspiration

In her  working life, Rima has met so many women of different wealth levels – women who are in charge of running multi-million dollar businesses for organisations, women entrepreneurs who are trying to make their mark in industries dominated by men, working women who have quit jobs to take care of their children and very wealthy women whose husbands run large businesses. One thing that was common in all was that most of them left money management to the men of the family – husband, father or brother. It amazed her  that while women like to have control on everything that happens in their life (at work and at home)and ensure the well-being of all the family members, they do not spend time on managing their finances. There are innumerable cases one hears and knows on the difficulties women have to face in cases of contingencies (death of spouse and divorce). While money is not everything in life, its importance in life cannot be underestimated. So it’s surprising that this life’s need is not focussed upon by women like they focus on health, education etc. The social structure of our society is also responsible as women have been brought up thinking that finance is in the male domain. Many times women are also daunted by financial advisors and are not included in discussions relating to personal finance by the advisors.

womantraRima’s journey began by co-founding Womantra – an organization focused on educating women on matter of personal financial training women in money-management. She worked on the premise that that these workshops will inspire women to have greater self-confidence in handling their own finances and in doing so, take charge of their destiny. This mission continues to provide hope for a better future as women can also share and pass on their knowledge to their children who would then be more financially responsible

As this journey progressed, she also realised that millennials and men from a non-finance background also took uninformed decisions, based on incorrect assumption or biased advised and invested in the flavour of the season, with considering the state of their overall finances

Fintelligence Consulting germinated from experiences and learnings from meeting with various clients across the spectrum. Key findings, which led to the setting up Fintelligence, was that the entire client base worked hard to earn their money, but did not spend enough time or effort managing the same and largely took solicited or unsolicited advice without corroboration.

Rima strongly believe that investment in knowledge gives the best returns. The point is to understand where how and for what you are investing and to manage risk, reward and the final goals.

The aim through Fintelligence and Womantra is to educate, empower and inspire greater self-confidence in individuals on financial matters. It makes the individual self-sufficient in taking their own financial decisions rather that completely rely on third parties.

This is in effect giving away the inside story and sharing her experiences of being a trusted advisor.
